Joshua 1:6-9
Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. “Be strong and very courageous.
Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.
Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
God said be strong and courageous, strong implies be confident. God is well aware of that situation you are faced with, he knows the trials that will come your way, understand this I didn’t say may or might but I said ‘will’ that is for sure you are going to be facing one thing or the other, but God still said be confident and courageous.
Joshua at this time was faced with something you might not be able to imagine, he was to lead over three million people to a promise land where God was leading them to and was to face many adversaries on the way but God’s commandment to him at this time was to be strong and courageous.
A situation not even close to this you may have lost you balance, it may  be your children are going wayward, your marriage is facing a crisis, you are struggling academically or you lost your job, or don’t even have one, or you are sick in your body, God is saying be strong and courageous!
You may ask how can this be?
Look at God’s last words to Joshua, “For I will be with thee”, “the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” That’s the promise, his presence.
God’s presence is your source of confident, it your encouragement, that you are not alone in the recession, you are not alone in the storm, he is there, by your side.
This is my confident when I’m going through, when I saw this scripture Matthew 28:20 “teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world!” Jesus said ‘always’don’t feel rejected when you are going through, your confidence is been tested, your strength is been tested. God himself is with you. You have a power in you.
Do you know you cannot obey God’s commandment without his presence? When he commanded Joshua, He said “be strong and courageous, that thou may observe to do according to all the law” so if you are not strong and courageous you cannot observe God’s commandments and you cannot be strong and courageous if you are not aware of God’s presence helping you. That’s what Jesus also told the disciples.
Be always aware of God’s presence. The Holy Spirit of promise is inside of you and with you all through the days of your life.
