If there’s a man that proof the kind of man God sought for in the scripture Eze 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none, Joseph is a true figure of the man God sought for. Looking critically at the life of this man you will see a man who truly stood for God in the midst of every unending seems storm he faced.
The scripture states that Joseph is the eleventh son of Jacob, and makes us to understand that Jacob’s favorite child is Joseph Gen 37:3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colors, and his father never hide the love he had for Joseph or ever deny making him his favorite, which as really make Joseph and his brothers enemies and Joseph is the type that always report his brothers to their father anytime they do anything wrong. As if that was not enough, the hatred got worse when Joseph revealed his dream to his brethren Gen 37:5 ¶ And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more., what! This is kind of arrogant, there is no human being that will want to see his fellow tell him he will be greater than him not even bloods now that are very far older than him, telling that dream which God has placed in his heart to his brothers was just like a catalyst, it speed up the hatred his brothers has for him, which leads to his brothers planning and plotting to kill him, but later on change their mind by selling him as a slave to the land of Egypt, and became a slave in the house of Potiphar. This is just a brief summary about the man called Joseph, a really great man, who reign in his own days and manifest God’s wisdom in every sphere he met himself.
In short Joseph was a man that move from pit to prison and from prison to palace and his appearance in the palace is not as a slave, messenger, or just a visitor, he came to the palace to manifest and dominate as a result of God’s wisdom that was in him.
That’s just a brief discuss about the man called Joseph, and that’s not  exactly where we’re going, we will quickly be looking at some lessons we can learn from this man as a Christian, that can actually place us in the position of the kind of man God sought for.
Now the very first one is that Joseph is a man that had a walk with God, we can actually see it from his attitude towards righteousness, if there’s one thing his brother has hated him for, is because of the truth he will always  tell their father, which is part of the reasons their father has loved him, even when his right doings seem to be turning out to be something else, he still have this heart for God, righteousness lead him out his father’s house to being a slave.
That’s enough reason to start giving all kind of excuses for not maintaining a righteous life but he never turn back from his walk with God.
Even at the point where Potiphar’s wife wants him to lay with her Gen 39:10 And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her., he still has this consciousness of God  Gen 39:9 There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back anything from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?  He sees it as a great wickedness against God, if we start having this consciousness too as a Christian that any sin we commit as a Christian is against God, it will sincerely enhance our walk with God and make us live rightly with God.
Will also be talking about the fact that Joseph was a real man of vision, he has what is driving him, God has given him a dream and he is conscious of his God’s given dream, he understands that God has given me this and he is capable of doing it for me. He stayed with it even when the thing he was facing was not looking like what he saw.
This will be making me to state this out to each and every Christian who does not have a vision for his or her life is joker, because if you don’t have a vision, you will end up in confusion. Joseph would’ve end up being a confused man without a vision.
Seek for your God’s given vision and walk by it, and note that God don’t give vision to those who is not ready to have a walk with him, God is not a waster. Have a walk with God like Joseph did, and let God entrust his vision in your care just as he did with Joseph.
Joseph was also a man that trust God and he is God’s dependent, whole heartedly, even in the midst of all the struggles and problems he still trusted God, and was rest assured that God was with him even when things are turning out in the dimension of pit and prison Gen 39:2 And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. Gen 39:3 and his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.
He still trusted that God is not a liar. So as a Christian, do you trust God?  That even in the pit-like situations or in the prison-like situations you may find yourself you won’t compromise or deny God. Trust me no vision speaks at the beginning it takes a walk with God and trusting God to accomplish a God’s given vision. We can learn that from Joseph, he trusted God.
Joseph was also a diligent man no man will place a lazy man to oversee his whole house, Prov22:29 Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men, not to talk of a man like Potiphar with all he had then. Gen 39:5 And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field. Thank God for his blessing over Joseph’s life, see this verse Gen 39:4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand. And he served there’s always a place of serving, even when God’s blessing and favor is available, our own role needs to play, you don’t just receive the vision and start thinking that God will come down and manifest it. Walk with God, let him gave you a vision for your life and diligently work with the vision until it’s accomplished. That’s very evident in the life of Joseph.
Will also like us to know that Joseph was a man who acknowledges God with the gift he has Gen 40:8 And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you., even though he has been blessed with give of interpretation of dreams. He still have this place in his heart to always  return all glory to God, so am not surprised when the scripture says he was favored by God Prov3:6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Even after he has blessed us with the gift or has given us the vision don’t  just get too involve with the vision or the dream and become obsessed by it instead of working  and praying that  his Name may be glorify in whatever he has committed in our hands.
We can’t just write enough about this great man, trust me, he is one of the great figures in the scripture. Who truly work in the order of men, yes I mean men, countless of lesson can be learn from this man talking of his administrative ability, his forgiving heart even after all his brothers has done to him he still find a place in his heart to forgive them, many of us don’t even experience up to that from people and we will still hold grudges against them, even though his brothers were guilty of kidnapping, attempt of murder, and even human trafficking but still he still find a place in his heart to overlook the bad side and see the good side of the whole situation. Gen 50:20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
Indeed Joseph was a great man.
God bless you.
