The Lord says, “I will give you back what you lost to the swarming locusts, the hopping locusts, the stripping locusts, and the cutting locusts. It was I who sent this great destroying army against you. Once again you will have all the food you want, and you will praise the Lord your God, who does these miracles for you. Never again will my people be disgraced (Joel 2:25‭-‬26, NLT)
Beloved, one of the strongholds of the mind that has held many bound is when things are not going the way they ought to and one starts saying that the Lord is punishing me for whatever mistake or sin I have committed and the sad thing is that there’s nothing as defeating as feeling like you are getting what you deserve.
Unfortunately, ‘the Lord is punishing me’ is a thought pattern that the enemy would want us to hold on to but as I was reading our feature text, I couldn’t help but focus on the part where the Lord says… IT WAS I WHO SENT THIS GREAT DESTROYING ARMY AGAINST YOU…
Well, I can see why one may feel like He is punishing me.
Beloved, if you are like me, when quoting this Scripture on restoration, we like to omit that part because we don’t want to make the Lord look bad. However, as I was reading it, for the first time, the thought came to mind; even if He punishes (discipline is a better word), He also restores.
This ought to free someone reading this that’s feeling very hopeless right now. The devil may have plagued you with a lot of guilt and helplessness. However, it doesn’t matter how bad he is trying to make you feel like you deserve it, just tell him; thank you for informing me that the Lord is dealing with me. However, after He has finished dealing with me, He will not only restore what I have lost, He would give me double for my trouble. It wouldn’t even look like I have lost any years. The Amplified translation says… And I will compensate you for the years that the swarming locust has eaten…
Beloved, I love the following statements that Job made. He said… Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him… (Job 13:15, NKJV)… “He knows the way that I take [and He pays attention to it]. When He has tried me, I will come forth as [refined] gold [pure and luminous] (JOB 23:10, AMP)
In other words, whatever the situation, I know that I’m still secure in His hands and all things will work out for my good (Romans 8:28).
Beloved, know that the Lord also restores. Stop doubting that He’s still with you. He says… I will give you back what you lost… “And you shall know [without any doubt] that I am in the midst of Israel [to protect and bless you], And that I am the Lord your God, And there is no other; My people will never be put to shame (JOEL 2:27, AMP).
