FINANCIAL LITERACY.
READ: JOB 11:6.
Bible in one year: Eccl 9-10.
And that he would tell you the secrets of wisdom! For he is manifold in understanding. Job 11:6.
The wisdom of God is manifold in nature. It is applicable in different areas of life. In order to become a Joseph, you must be a man of great wisdom as Pharaoh acknowledged on hearing Joseph speak.
One of the functional dimensions of wisdom is financial wisdom or literacy. This is the body of knowledge required to manage and multiply finances either at a personal or corporate level. Financial literacy is defined as “the ability to understand how money works in the world: how someone manages to earn or make it, how that person manages it, how he/she invests it (turn it into more) and how that person donates it to help others”
Though part of it is taught in classrooms, seminars etc while other parts of it can be gleaned from several books on the subject, the principles of stewardship expounded all over the scriptures teach financial literacy.
Jesus spent a good time teaching on stewardship hence several of his parables border on money.
A believer who wants to be an economic giant must acquire wisdom in handling finances.
Don’t just assume you know how to handle money. The easiest thing to do is to spend. No one needs to be tutored on how to lavish money but you need to be well tutored on how to grow, manage and multiply resource which is the hallmark of good stewardship. The bible says wisdom is justified by her children. When you have financial wisdom, its result will be very evident.
Read books on financial intelligence (the greatest book ever written is the Bible, ask questions, pray, seek superior wisdom from mentors and you will soon become a financial giant.
ACTION POINT: I commit to seeking wisdom in the prudent utilization of the resources God has committed into my hands. Father, grant me wisdom to manage my finances properly in Jesus Name*
