Matthew Ashimolowo was born on the 17th of March 1952 in Kaduna state in Northern Nigeria.

He was born to Muslim parents, he is the 4th in a family 5 children.

His Muslim name was Ahmed.

His father was a military officer and was constantly transferred on official duties; this meant his family was always on the move.

At the age of 22 after his father died in the Biafra war, he gave his life to Christ and converted from Islam to Christianity.

He also then went to a bible school in Lagos to further his career as a minister of the gospel.

After Bible school, he began as an assistant Pastor in Foursquare Gospel church, after which he was moved to the UK, where he started his own ministry.

KICC started in a school hall in North London with only 11 members, the membership of the church grew and the church had to move to Hackney town centre after which the church bought a building at Mare Street. This building later became too small, and the church had to move again to the current Church site located at 57 Waterden Road.

Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo is the Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre; the church started out in 1992 with 11 members but has grown to over 12,000 members.

Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo is a dynamic preacher, having preached for over 30 years he is a successful leader and a man of excellence and this is evident not only in his life but also in the lives of the members of KICC.

He challenges people to success not wallowing in mediocrity. His mandate is to teach the people undiluted word of God.

As a Pastor, his aim is to spread the word to a dying world, encourage individuals to develop themselves spiritually, heal the broken hearted and the sick being healed

He is a man with a vision, directed by God and motivated to carry on the will of the heavenly father, his vision is to create heavenly minded people who are able to influence and impact and also make a difference in their world through the word of God.

KICC is the largest growing church in Europe; it is a very multicultural church, with over 40 nations represented in the church. Pastor Matthew challenges his members to succeed both spiritually and in every sphere of life irrespective of the challenge.

Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo apart from being a preacher, he is also a motivational speaker, he speaks more on success. He is also an author and has received numerous awards for his outstanding books and selfless service; he is the author of over 60 books.

Pastor Matthew’s messages are televised and watched all around the world and also heard on most radio stations all around the world.

Pastor Mathew is the host of “Winning Ways” which is aired on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), The God Channel and Inspirational Network in Europe, in Nigeria, Zimbabwe, TV Africa, Daystar, also on Premier Radio (London) and Spirit FM (Amsterdam).
He also hosts 24 Hour Miracle which comes up on OBE TV. His wife Pastor Yemisi also is the host of the Winning Women’s ministry.

Mathew Ashimolowo’s net worth was estimated by Forbes to be between $6-10 million.

KICC annual accounts confirmed that he earns an annual salary of £100,000 but the majority of his wealth comes from the sale of Christian literature and documentaries from his media company, Matthew Ashimolowo media. This is consistent with the fact that Ashimolowo subscribes to and teaches success in the vein of Prosperity theology, which in most respects is considered controversial.

Pastor Matthew is married to Pastor Yemisi and they have 2 sons Tobi and Tomi.
