The Biography of Pastor Sunday Adelaja
Sunday Adelaja was born on the 28th of May 1967 at Idomila, Ijebu-ode Ogun state Nigeria. He was raised by his grandmother.
He did his primary and secondary school in Nigeria and in 1986 before his graduation; he gave his life to Christ and became a Christian.
He was also giving scholarship to study journalism at the University of Belarusian state in Minsk, Byelorussian USSR. He began his Christian activities in Belarus during his studies.
He also started many churches in Belarus and handed them over to other pastors before he left for Ukraine in December 1993, after the breaking down of USSR in December.
He became founded and Pastor of The Embassy of the Blessed Kingdom of God for All Nations Church, mostly called “The Embassy of God Church” in kyiv, Ukraine where he also got married and took a job. He started his church with just a handful of fellow African students in an apartment downtown Kyiv in 1994.
Today he plays an important role in the political and social life of Ukraine. He also was influencing factor of the Ukraine Orange Revolution.
Sunday Adelaja, at age 33 has built the largest charismatic in Europe; he has also proven to be one of the world’s dynamic communicators and a church planter. His church has planted more than 700 churches in over 50 countries of the world. He is also regarded as one of the most successful pastors in Europe.
His church has grown over the years with an attendance of over 25000 members both blacks and whites. The boundaries of racial prejudice has been surpassed as it has been indicated by the high percentage of white Europeans (99%) attend the church every Sunday and other services.
The church has helped so many drug addicted people and alcoholic and so many of them have joined the church. The church has been instrumental in starting 300 rehab centers for drug addicts and alcoholic in Ukraine and Russia.
The church feeds about 1000-2000 people daily at the church’s Stephania soup kitchens in Kyiv. The church has also helped the homeless people acquiring skills, thus helping them back to a normal life and work. It was also said by the church that 2,000 children have been helped off the street, and have been returned to their families.
The church has a hot line for people to call in, especially people in need; it is called “Trust line”. The church also created an organization called “Love Rehabilitation Center” and it is to help people with addictions to be set free, it was also recorded by the church that through their work, over 5000 people have been set free from their various forms of addictions
Pastor Sunday who was called “chocolate rabbit” in Ukraine and suffered several attempts to be deported, thousands of people still joined hands to support his mission to see Ukraine and the whole world affected and saved by the gospel of the Kingdom.
Pastor Sunday is recognized as an unusually gifted preacher, teacher and speaker and can speak fluently in Russian.
He is also a gifted preacher and teacher of the Word of God, with an extraordinary operation in the gifts of the Spirit, especially the word of knowledge.
He receives numerous speaking invitations to several countries in all continents of the world yearly, as well as invitations to meetings with heads of States and other Politicians. Just as in August 2007 he was invited by the employees of the UN as a speaker for three sessions, it was the first time in the history of the UN that a pastor speaks in the main hall of the UN.
In that meeting, there were 500 organizations and missions from different parts of the world and leaders from 30 countries that participated in these sessions.
From then on, the Embassy of God started its preparation to enter the UN and become a member of this organization.
Pastor Sunday has received so many awards and honors
- In May 2004 The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Holland Mission gave a Special Appreciation to Pastor Sunday Adelaja for being part of what God is using His church to do in reaching out to the people of the Netherlands
- In March 2007 Sunday Adelaja became an Honorable Member of the Euroasian International Chamber of Commerce.
- In March 2008 the Archbishop Benson Idahosa Prize for Missionary Exploits
- In May 2009, Sunday Adelaja became The Face of Kiev 2009
- In October 2010, Sunday Adelaja was one of the foreigners in Ukraine who were awarded The Most Influential Expats 2010by the Kyiv post newspaper
Just as Pastor Sunday Adelaja has received awards, he has also gotten accusations and criticism from organizations, other ministers and people.
In 2008 he was accused of being involved in the dealings of king’s capital, a financial group led by a former member of his church.
King’s Capital, promises as much as 60 percent returns on investments and drew many of its investors from the church. Later several former church members went to the authorities saying they were unable to recover the money they invested, which left many of them bankrupt.
Police later arrested one of King’s Capital leaders, Aleksandr Bandurchenko, on suspicion of fraud.
Pastor Sunday Adelaja was interrogated severally but there was no prove as to him being in dealings with King’s Capital.
Pastor Sunday Adelaja has written over 200 books in which some of them have been translated in different languages as English, German, Chinese, Arabic and Dutch.
Also, thousands of his sermons have been recorded.
Apart from all his achieve he has been blessed with the gift of family.
Pastor Sunday is happily married to Abosede, his Princess and they are blessed with three children: Perez, Zoe and Pearl.
I have watched his sermons, teachings and books on the internet and indeed, they are life transforming.
He’s a great and a blessed man of God with blessed impact, he’s an agent of transformation unto The NATIONs.
