The promises of God

What is a promise? A promise is a binding oath made by one person to another based on the persons integrity.

From the above definition of promise, we can see that when God promises a man, or when a man finds in the scriptures the promises of God for his life, those words become an oath as far as God is concerned, they become binding on him, and for the sake of God’s integrity,He is committed to making it a reality.

However, to see God’s promises fulfilled in our lives we must understand that it is a two-way thing, that is God has a part to play, which has been explained above. That His commitment to His word is because of His integrity.

There is also ‘what to do’ to see God’s promises fulfilled. One of such is that we must believe and settle in our hearts that ‘GOD NEVER LIES‘ (Numbers 23:9) from this scripture we see one of the major attributes of man(an unregenerated man) is lying ( Psalm 10:7,12:2); it is a core nature of the devil (John 8:44) we therefore must believe with all our hearts that it is impossible for God to lie.

(Hebrews 6:18) For His nature is truth (Ish 45:19) and He Himself is the truth. (John 14:6).

We can therefore take the promises of God for our lives as contained in the scriptures literally and believe them with all our hearts. When we fulfil this criterion, God’s promises for us finds speedily fulfilment. Let’s see a few of God’s promises for us.

Deuteronomy 15:6 : For the Lord your God will bless you as He has promised, and you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. You will rule over many nations but none will rule over you.

Genesis 12:2-3 : And I will make thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great, and thou shall be a blessing; I will bless them that bless thee and curse them that curseth thee: and in thee shall the family of the earth be blessed.

Joel 2:25 : And I will restore or replace for you the years that the locust has eaten–the hopping locust, the stripping locust, and the crawling locust, My great army which I sent among you.

Jeremiah 33:3 : Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

Jeremiah 30:17 : For I will restore health to you, and I will heal your wounds, says the Lord, because they have called you an outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no one seeks after and for whom no one cares!

Isaiah 41:10 : Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

1 Corinthians 2:9 : But on the contrary, as the Scripture says, What eye has not seen and ear has not heard and has not entered into the heart of man, [all that] God has prepared (made and keeps ready) for those who love Him [who hold Him in affectionate reverence, promptly obeying Him and gratefully recognizing the benefits He has bestowed].

1 John 2:25 : And this is the promise that He had promised us, even eternal life.

Joshua 23:10 : One man of you shall put to flight a thousand, for it is the Lord your God Who fights for you, as He promised you.

2 Peter 1:4 : By means of these He has bestowed on us His precious and exceedingly great promises, so that through them you may escape [by flight] from the moral decay (rottenness and corruption) that is in the world because of covetousness (lust and greed), and become sharers (partakers) of the divine nature.
