PLANTED BY THE RIVERS OF WATER
I will be taking us through a journey of the first chapter of the book of psalms, travelling from the very first verse to the third verse, which is talking about the blessed man likened to a plant, planted by the rivers of water.
With my agricultural knowledge, I understand that there is no plant whatsoever that will ever survive without water ,there may actually be some particular species of plants that requires a very little amount of water and there are even some that can sustain many weeks without water but will still need water at some certain point, but most plants requires water as a means to survive, which has brought me to the conclusion that water is a very important resources for any plant that will grow very well and produce it fruit in season.
Since we know that water is one of the major resources required for a plant to survive, now try to imagine planting a particular plant by the rivers of water, what a wow!
The plant is blessed, the source at which is nutrient is draw is different, is own case has been come different, even though others may actually wait for rain to get water, or any other means by which water may come, he is of no concern he is connected already to an everlasting source, and in the case of this blessed man his case don’t get different by accident.
He really has paid the price and done the needful.
We will be looking at what makes is own cases different shortly.
Now I will like us to just take a very good look at a plant that is by the rivers of water, I have been privilege to be at the riverside and I have seen a lot of plants by the riverside.
And I know a lot would have been privilege to see that too.
Even during the dry season when you get to the riverside you still find a lot of plants growing healthily by the riverside.
This is not exactly where we are going, just trying to let’s get the picture of a plant that is by the rivers of water.
We will be running through psalms 1:3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
There’s one thing that makes me pay a very close attention to this particular verse is that the bible didn’t just mention the river of water.
It was pluralized, the RIVERS, and some other version used STREAMS, what real source.
This man is not just likened to a plant planted by the river of water, it was rivers, not just one river but rivers of water.
The case is absolutely different, what has the man done?
To worth being compare to a plant planted by the rivers of the water. What is it that gave him a source that is uncommon?
what has made is case a very different one?
The answer is in the first two verses of the same chapter.
Psalm 1:2-3 ¶ Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.
Wow! He is not just a man, but a man who seek after righteousness, a man who eschewed evil just like JOB, a man whose delight is in the law of the lord, he enjoys obeying the law of the lord, is the man who does not give excuse about disobeying God like JOSEPH, a man whose heart is for God, a man that what he pants for his God like DAVID, a man who meditates on the law of the lord, a man who makes us to understand that obeying God always is the simple definition of righteousness, a man who believed God like ABRAHAM.
As a Christian if our desire is to be like a plant that is planted by the rivers of water, exactly like that blessed man, then we need to start eschewing evil, believing God, then we need really need to learn from that bless man, Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Seeking after his kingdom and not only that even his righteousness, and see yourself becoming exactly like that blessed man planted by the rivers of water.
God bless you.
