Devotional: Receiving Help From Above
Help From Above
The only reliable help a man can receive is the help from above, if a man is helping you today he may decide to stop for one reason or the other tomorrow. In fact, if a man helped you to achieve any good thing he will be boosting about it, that if not for him, you will never achieve that which you have achieved.
Although God will not come down to help man, but the fact that He uses men to help does not say we should solely rely on another man for our help.
No wonder the Psalmist in chapter 121:1-2 says I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help?
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. God is the creator of heaven and earth, at His command all things were made both visible and invisible so He has authority to make things happen.
Daniel 4:25 make us to know that the most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomsoever he will, that is, God is the ruler and He knows about everything that is going on in the affairs of men, though there are some things that men do by themselves out of the will of God to their self-will but God is aware about everything.
John 3:27. Says A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.
Human help is limited and it can fail anytime, a man can promise you in the morning and by evening he will not be alive again that is why the Bible says woe is that man that put his trust in man and Isaiah 2:22 says Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils.
The story of Daniel is a good example for us to always rely on the help God.
When the children of Israel were taken captive to the land of Babylon Daniel became one of the deputies of the king, the king appointed three presidents of which Daniel was one of them, but among the three, Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him. Daniel 6:3.
For this reason, all the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains conspired against Daniel that they might kill him because he was preferred above them all, they told the king that no one should pray to any God except the king for thirty days knowing fully well that Daniel cannot do without praying to God every day, the king agreed with them to sign it into law that any man who violate the rule shall be cast into the den of lions not knowing it was a conspiracy against Daniel.
Immediately they caught him praying they came to report him to the king that Daniel did not regard the king and his decree, though the king desire to free Daniel but the law could not be changed, therefor the king have no choice than to allow them to through him into the den of lions, but through the help from above, God sent His angel to shut the mouth of lion and by the following day, no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.
Had it been Daniel has relied on the help of the king that would have been the end of his life.
The Bible says in Psalm 146:3-5. Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God. The man whose help is in the Lord will always be happy because there is no disappointment in God.
May the Lord help us to always put our hope in help from above in Jesus name.
