5 Nigerian Pastors Who Lost Their Wives
For many years now these men have brought the gospel of Christ to the people of Nigeria. However these men don’t just share the similarity of their faith and belief, they share the fate of men who have gone through the pain of losing a partner and wife. Some have gone on to remarry after their loss.
Here’s a list of Nigerian pastors who have lost their wives:
Pastor William Kumuyi
The General Superintendent and founder of Deeper Life Bible Church is one of Nigeria’s most popular pastors to have suffered the loss of a partner. His late wife, Sister Biodun Kumuyi as she was fondly called passed away at the age of fifty-seven on 11th April 2009. She was the National Woman Co-ordinator of the Church as well as the International Coordinator of the women ministry in Africa and other continents where the church has branches.
She was also the publisher of the popular Christian Women Mirror magazine. Pastor Kumuyi found love a year later when he got married to Esther Blaize who had been the administrator of the church in London. She was 65 as the time of the marriage to Pastor Kumuyi and had never been married before.
Pastor Taiwo Odukoya:
Pastor Taiwo Odukoya of Fountain of Life Church and Ministry lost his wife Pastor Bimbo Odukoya in an unfortunate plane crash that occurred on December 10, 2005. She had been an icon with her “Single & Married” ministry changing lives, helping heal and build relationships. It took another five years for the man of God to find another partner and this time he got married to South African Rosemary Simangele Zulu.
Pastor Anslem Madubuko
Pastor Anslem Madubuko is the senior pastor and founder of Revival Assembly Ministries International (The New Anointing). He lost his wife of twenty-eight years Connie Madubuko in 2012 while he was out of Nigeria on ministerial work. She is reported to have suffered from cardiac arrest and later died in a private clinic. The pastor later got remarried in 2013 to Kenyan gospel singer Emmy Kosgei.
Pastor John Kayode
Pastor John Kayode of the parish pastor of Christ Apostolic Church, Otumara Branch tragically lost his wife in a fire outbreak that burnt the church building and the cleric’s official accommodation attached to the church. The sad incident took place on September 25, 2014 in Warri, Delta State and the pastor who was said to have been out of town for a conference organised by the church leadership lost not only his wife but also his two children.
Pastor James Musa Rike
Pastor James Musa Rike lost his wife, Dune James Rike, in an Islamist attack on Kurum village in Bauchi state back in 2011. The attack came shortly after the general elections of 2011 and he also lost his 13 year old daughter, Sum James Rike. The general secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Bauchi State, the Rev Turbe Ngodem, told International Christian Concern: “It is not right for anyone to kill another person.
